all my bags are packed, i'm ready to go...

The last time I packed a bag without knowing the time at which I would need to use its contents was when I was expecting my first child. Now again, I find myself packing a bag without knowing my departure date, though this time for a much different reason.

The first time I conducted such an exercise was in anticipation of my daughter's first breath into mortality. This time, it is for the purpose of the first breath into immortality of the one who gave birth to me.

As the indeterminate timing is enough to make me lose my mind, what remains of my frazzled mind now shifts to another who waits patiently for a day which He also knows not. Scripture says that even the Son does not know the day or the timing at which He will return, but only the Father.

But the promise is there.

He will come, He is coming, He just doesn't know when.

His bags might be packed, but only the Father knows the exact day. Sounds vaguely familiar.

Until then, all we can pray is ...

Come, Lord Jesus, Come
