the last lap
So, we have come to the last lap. And like any long-distance race, the end is the most tiring part. The part when one's legs can hardly be felt anymore, when it is very tempting to just stop and go no further.
But we have to press on.
One foot in front of the other, one step at a time.
The finish line will soon be in sight.
I am reminded of Hebrews 11, of the great cloud of witnesses who have gone before us, who fought the good fight and finished the race. So. Let us pause to double-tie our running shoes so we don't trip over our own laces, and 'let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.'
