Happy birthday to my favorite fork

Today my sister celebrates her 28th birthday. It is the ninth consecutive year in which I will wish her a happy birthday from the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. But it is the first year in which I can boast having a blog to broadcast her greatness. Hence, I will take full advantage of the opportunity.

My sister is the best. Can't you just see how thrilled I was when she was born?

In the Lord’s grace we have endured much together over the years.

Divorce and marriage,

laughter and tears,

separation and reunion,

health and terminal illness.

She got our dad’s height, sense of humor, stubbornness, efficiency, discipline, determination and drive. I got our mom’s cluttered state of mind and lifestyle, talkativeness and over emotionalism.

And I will abstain altogether from alarming anyone by alluding to her acquired adoration of alliteration.

I know that many females don't have the privilege of having sisters. To me, it is one of the greatest gifts God has given me. Even though we live over 8,000 miles away, she will always be close in my heart (and on Facebook, Skype and Gmail...)

To quote her favorite Christmas movie, “Sisters, sisters, there were never such devoted sisters… Lord, help the mister who comes between me and my sister…"

Even though you're such a fork, I still love you.

Happy birthday!
